Supporting global equity in Special Care Dentistry
About the Award
The Jan Andersson-Norinder Travel Bursary commemorates Jan Andersson-Norinder’s pioneering work in Special Care Dentistry and his lifelong commitment to advancing oral health for people with disabilities. The award supports individuals who promote oral health for people requiring special care, particularly those facing financial or structural barriers to attending international events. Up to seven bursaries (each up to $1,500 USD) will assist presenting authors to attend iADH 2026 in Dublin, Ireland.
✅ Eligibility
Applicants must:
● Reside in a low- or middle-income country (World Bank definition).
● Have submitted an abstract (oral or poster) for iADH 2026 as the presenting author. (Abstract submission opens November 2025.)
● Be a current iADH member, either directly or through an affiliated organisation.
● Be actively promoting oral health for people with disabilities or special care needs.
⚠ Applications not meeting these criteria will not be considered. Funding is provisional until abstract acceptance is confirmed.
Preference
If more eligible applications are received than awards available, preference will be given to:
● First-time attendees of the iADH Congress ● Applicants demonstrating financial need
● Early-career professionals and community contributors
● Those who have not previously received the award
� � How to Apply
Applications open 1 November 2025 and close 28 February 2026. Your application must include:
● iADH membership number and abstract details (title and type).
● A cover letter (maximum 800 words) structured under four headings:
1. Your work promoting oral health for people with special healthcare needs in your country
2. Your involvement with iADH during the past five years
3. The key message and global relevance of your abstract
4. How attending iADH 2026 will support your professional and personal development
● Confirmation of originality & AI disclosure (confirm your abstract was submitted only to iADH 2026 and disclose any use of generative AI).
● (Optional) One letter of support from a colleague, institution, NGO, or iADH member.

⚖ Review Process
Applications will be reviewed by members of the iADH Scientific Committee and Executive Committee, using the following domains:
● Equity: Demonstrated financial or systemic barriers to international travel
● Impact Potential: Likelihood of using congress learning to benefit others locally
● Relevance: Abstract addresses equity, inclusion, or disability relevance
● iADH Engagement: Past or planned involvement with iADH (new members welcome)
● Clarity & Structure: Quality, coherence, and completeness of responses
Final selection may also consider geography, under-represented voices, and first-time attendance to ensure global equity. Winners will be notified by mid-April 2026 and formally announced at iADH 2026 in Dublin. Awardees will attend the conference, receive mentorship, and submit a short reflection after the event.
